Adventures in Proofreading

Pity the attorney who recently filed this motion in Miami-Dade Circuit County Court:

Motion

Text:

Plaintiff moves the court for a continuance of the trial for the reason that counsel for the plaintiff is recovering from dick surgery and because of continuing pain is unable to properly represent the plaintiff in a trial.  Counsel is unable to sit for long periods of time.

An attached doctor's note revealed that the poor attorney who filed this had recently had surgery for a herniated disk.

An adversay of mine once submitted a brief in an appeal of a personal injury action, in which he said that the plaintiff had sustained a "baloney amputation." He meant a below-knee amputation.

Wow, we have the technology to do baloney amputations? I thought we were years away from that -- you know, what with federal obstruction of stem cell research and all that.
