More on Newsweek's amazing flushing Koran

Newsweek now as much as admits that it has no idea whether the story of a Gitmo guard flushing a Koran down a toilet is true or not.  Of course, as you read the story you realize that the magazine is trying to wriggle off the hook by throwing around other unsourced, unfounded allegations that just happen to be floating around out there.  Simply amazing.

Scott Johnson asks: "Is this how an elite newsmagazine confesses error and corrects the record when it makes a big mess?"

I guess so.  And it looks like my initial scepticism was well-founded.

Just remember this the next time some MSM type preens about bloggers not being able to meet real journalists' standards for ethics, fairness, and accuracy:  Newsweek lied, people died.
